Dance Dance Dance

An unplanned day resulted in some new activity. We did the usual outing to Church and there was some tv time after lunch but for the first time ever Bean choose to stop watching tv and wanted to open the clay pot, Pumpkin continued watching. This is a totally new development as it is usually quite the task prising the boys away from the tv, so to have one continuing watching whilst the other does his own thing is nothing short of a miracle!

The clay pot has been sat in our dinning room for months now, I bought it ages ago whilst it was half price and in a strewning type effort left it visible but it has not been opened until today, although there have been lots of questions about it. Bean instructed me to make a dinosaur and he made a pond for it. His current plans are to make more dinosaurs for it. This follows along the same theme as his volcano dinosaur landscape which he is currently drawing and displaying in the dinning room.
Pumpkin was finally persuaded to turn off the tv with the invitation of making banana muffins.

And then Bean announced he would like to make a peacock from glitter, feathers and paint! I have no idea where this idea came from but we gathered the requested items and off he went. Pumpkin joined him but wanted to paint a sunset. He struggled with the water based paint and kept saying it was too wet so we found the thicker poster style paint and he was happier with this. Both boys demonstrated the need for mastery in their play very nicely, repeatedly painting the same thing until the effect they desired was achieved. For Bean this meant not sticking the feathers on or adding the glitter until he had mastered the painting that he wanted. Pumpkin's sunset idea was inspired by the picture we have on our dinning room wall which daddy won in a raffle once, painted by Chris of Crawley Borough Council.

After this Pumpkin took to videoing on my phone. This evolved into Bean videoing and directing Pumpkin on how to move the farm animals across the farm. There was also some dancing with no music involved in our living room "Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your own living room." Kurt Vonnegut (KP Nuts)
